Several of the Gargoyles joined The Wild American Touring Side for a trip to Scotland to play 3 matches in 10 days. The team flew to Glasgow on November 17th, immediately hopped on a bus for a few hour trip to the West coast, then onto a ferry to take them to the Isle of Islay. They won their first match against the Islay team, with Gargoyles Steve Vidas, Matt Dictus, Ryan Melso, Aaron Melso, and Rizzo playing on the Islay side to round out their numbers. Matt Dictus was the first Gargoyle to score a try on foreign soil while playing for Islay. They then enjoyed some distillery tours, and conquered every pub and castle they could find.
The team then hopped back on a bus, a ferry, and another bus to take them to the Northern side of Scotland to the city of Elgin. They had a hard fought match against the Elgin team but came out victorious in the end. A haunted ghost tour, more pubs, more castles, and more pubs rounded out the stay in Elgin.
From here they jumped back on a bus around Loch Ness and headed South to Fort Williams. Nessie was not sighted unfortunately. In true Gargoyle fashion, the guys decided to take a hike, stopped at a pub on the way, then got lost in the mountains trying to find where the Braveheart movie was filmed. After a night out at the pub until bar close, the TWATS suffered their only loss of the trip after heading into the 3rd period with a lead. Aaron Melso had a stunning steal at midfield for a try, being the second Gargoyle to score on the trip, and Tito put on a wonderful dance performance after the game.
Overall the trip was a blast and the Gargoyles thank the host Rockford Ravens for setting up The Wild American Touring Side
